The Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra can claim to be one of the most authentic ensembles for the interpretation of the Straussian oeuvres. 1966 — almost 120 years after the Strauss Orchestra was founded Johann Strauss (father) — prompted the great need for demanding interpreted light music by a group of Viennese musicians of the then Small Radio Orchestra to found the Wiener Johann Strauss Orchestra. The ensemble continues to cultivate the music of the Strauss dynasty, as well as the so-called “light” Viennese music. Its line-up of 42 musicians corresponds to that according to authentic traditions of the Strauss family. There has been an intensive collaboration with Johannes Wildner since 2008, and since 2010 only Johannes Wildner and Alfred Eschwé as the conductors. The ensemble has been giving concerts regularly since 1981 at the Golden Hall of the Wiener Musikverein. The WJSO has committee to providing their recordings to Comeback in Vienna.
